- ".exe" files
This is a two-step process for a self-extracting file (step 1) that allows
you to unzip (step 2) the file attachments without requiring an unzip
software.
Clicking on a link that is described in parentheses as (.exe) will open
a dialog box* offering you the option to open the file or save it. It is recommended that you
select your desktop as the
destination and click “save.”
Note:
You may choose a different file name before clicking "save." Otherwise,
the default will be the system file name for the .exe file. The system file
name denotes the year,
the month, and the agenda item number.
For example, 050731
means the meeting of:
2005, July, Agenda #31. |
The ".exe" file is now saved to your
desktop with an icon of the name of either the default system file name or
one of your choosing. Double-click that
desktop icon to now extract (i.e., "unzip") the files from the executable
(.exe) file. Follow the ".zip" files instructions below.
- ".zip" files
Clicking on the link for a ".zip" file (or the extracted
icon obtained upon clicking on a .exe file) will present you with
an unzip dialog box*. It is recommended that you select your desktop as the destination, then click
the "unzip" option. The
files, in their original form (i.e., M.S. Word, M.S. Excel, etc.) will be
copied to your desktop.
Note:
Our internal processing software automatically creates a file name for
each attachment. That file name is the default agenda item name
(050731 in the above example) plus a letter, beginning with "A" and
continuing until all attachments have a number-plus-letter file name. At the conclusion of the file unzip
process, you may wish to rename the files with names that are
meaningful to you. |
You may wish to visit the
WinZip website, or other unzip software
utility sites, for further information.
