DISCUSSION/ACTION ITEM   
  1. Execute Contracts for Legislative Representation
    in Washington D.C.
    At the September 11, 2009 meeting, the Board approved release of an RFP to solicit proposals for legislative representation in Washington, D.C. On December 4, 2009, the Board approved extending the filing date to receive proposals to 5:00 p.m., December 16, 2009. This action is to approve contracts with Kadesh & Associates and B&D Consulting, for legislative representation in Washington, D.C., in amounts not to exceed $ 221,200 and $200,000, respectively. The contract(s) will be for one-year, beginning in January 2010, and may be extended for up to two one-year terms, upon satisfactory performance, at the Board’s discretion.
 
  1. Execute Contracts for Legislative Representation in Sacramento, CA
    On October 2, 2009, the Board approved release of an RFP
    to solicit proposals for legislative representation in
    Sacramento, CA. On December 4, 2009, the Board
    extended the filing date for responses to this RFP
    until December 16, 2009. This action is to consider contracts
    with Gonzalez Public Affairs for $100,000; Joe A. Gonsalves
    & Sons for $108,000 and Sloat, Higgins, Jensen & Associates
    for $242,000 for legislative representation in Sacramento, CA.
    The contracts will be for one-year, beginning in January 2010,
    and may be extended for up to two one-year terms, upon
    satisfactory performance, at the Board’s discretion.

Public Comment
Members of the public are afforded the opportunity to speak on any agenda item before or during the Board’s consideration of the item. At a special meeting, no other business may be considered. Each speaker will be afforded three minutes to address the Board. (Govt. Code Section 54954.3)
